Avail Valley Construction is seeking an experienced Heavy Equipment Operator to join our Highway Construction Crew. This position plays a critical role in large-scale roadway, grading, and infrastructure projects throughout the region. The ideal candidate is skilled, safety-focused, and comfortable working away from home for extended periods during the construction season.

Highway jobs throughout Wyoming

Monday-Friday, some Saturdays possible

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Safely and efficiently operate heavy equipment including motor graders, dozers, and skid steers

  • Perform grading, shaping, and earthmoving work to project specifications

  • Work closely with crew members and project managers to meet production goals

  • Conduct daily equipment inspections and report maintenance or safety concerns

  • Read and interpret grade stakes, plans, and job site instructions

  • Maintain a clean and safe work area in compliance with company and DOT safety standards

  • Assist with other tasks as needed to support highway and road construction operations

 

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience operating heavy equipment in highway, road, or heavy civil construction

  • Proven ability to operate grader, dozer, and/or skid steer proficiently

  • Strong understanding of grading techniques and job site safety

  • Ability to work long hours and adapt to changing job site conditions

  • Willingness and ability to travel and stay away from home for extended periods during the summer construction season

  • Valid driver’s license (CDL a plus, but not required)

  • Experience working on highway or DOT projects

  • GPS or machine control experience

  • Strong teamwork and communication skills

Heavy Equipment Operator

The ideal candidate will have experience operating various types of heavy construction equipment and be committed to maintaining high standards of workmanship.

 

As a Heavy Equipment Operator, you will be responsible for safely operating equipment such as excavators, loaders, graders, dozers, and skid steers. You’ll support excavation, grading, trenching, road building, utility installation, and other civil construction activities. You will also be responsible for performing daily equipment inspections, reporting maintenance needs, and helping maintain a clean and organized work area.

Monday-Friday, some Saturdays possible

  • Safely operate heavy equipment including excavators, loaders, graders, and dozers

  • Perform excavation, grading, trenching, and material handling tasks

  • Follow site plans, grade stakes, and directions from supervisors

  • Conduct daily equipment inspections and document findings

  • Report mechanical issues and assist with basic equipment maintenance

  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment

  • Follow all company safety policies and regulations

  • Work collaboratively with crew members and supervisors

  • Assist with labor tasks when equipment operation is not required

Cement Mixer Driver (CDL Required)

Description

Avail Valley Construction is seeking a reliable and safety-focused Cement Mixer Driver to join our seasonal construction team. This role is responsible for safely operating a ready-mix concrete truck, delivering concrete to residential, commercial, and infrastructure job sites, and ensuring quality control during transport and discharge.

This is a seasonal position with opportunity for return employment based on performance and operational needs.
 
Location 

Thayne, WY (Strawberry Batch Plant) 
Monday-Friday, some Saturdays possible

Early mornings and extended shifts during peak season

Local routes (home daily unless otherwise noted)
 
Key Responsibilities 

  • Operate ready-mix concrete truck in accordance with DOT and company safety standards

  • Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections

  • Maintain accurate driver logs (ELD if required)

  • Safely maneuver truck in tight job site environments

  • Deliver concrete to job sites on schedule

  • Monitor slump and consistency during transport

  • Operate mixer drum controls during discharge

  • Wash down truck after deliveries to prevent buildup

  • Maintain drum cleanliness and chute condition

  • Communicate with dispatch, batch plant personnel, and contractors

  • Position truck safely for pours

  • Follow customer instructions while maintaining safety standards

  • Maintain professional demeanor on all job sites

Qualifications 

  • Ability to climb ladders and access truck cab safely

  • Lift and maneuver chutes weighing 50+ lbs

  • Stand for extended periods

  • Work outdoors in varying weather conditions

  • Prior ready-mix concrete driving experience (preferred but not required)

  • Familiarity with aggregate or construction industry operations (preferred but not required)

Construction Laborer

Desription

Avail Valley Construction is seeking a hardworking, dependable, and safety‑minded Construction Laborer. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys hands‑on work, thrives in an outdoor environment, and takes pride in contributing to high‑quality construction projects across Eastern Idaho and Wyoming.

As a Construction Laborer, you will support a variety of tasks on our civil construction job sites. Responsibilities include site cleanup, material handling, assisting equipment operators, preparing work areas, and performing physical labor such as shoveling, raking, compacting, and installing pipe or utilities. This position is essential to keeping projects running safely, efficiently, and on schedule.

Avail Valley Construction is seeking a dependable and safety-focused CDL/DOT Transport & Local Delivery Driver to support seasonal construction operations. This role is responsible for transporting materials, equipment, and supplies to and from job sites while ensuring full DOT compliance and safe driving practices.

This is a seasonal position with potential for extended opportunities based on workload and performance.

Monday-Friday, some Saturdays possible

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Transport materials, aggregates, equipment, and supplies to job sites

  • Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections in accordance with DOT regulations

  • Maintain accurate driver logs (ELD if applicable)

  • Secure loads and ensure compliance with FMCSA cargo securement standards

  • Communicate with dispatch and field supervisors regarding delivery schedules

  • Assist with loading/unloading materials as needed

  • Maintain clean and organized company vehicles

  • Report vehicle maintenance needs immediately

 

Qualifications

  • Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL)

  • Current DOT Medical Examiner’s Certificate (Medical Card)

  • Clean driving record (MVR required)

  • Ability to pass pre-employment drug and alcohol screening

  • Understanding of DOT/FMCSA regulations

  • Ability to secure loads properly and safely

Hot Plant Second Man / Loader Operator (Seasonal)

Description

Avail Valley Construction is seeking a reliable and safety-driven Second Man / Loader Operator to support Hot Plant operations for the upcoming construction season. This position plays a critical role in maintaining production flow, material handling, and overall plant efficiency.

This is a seasonal position with opportunity for return employment based on performance and operational needs.

Douglas, WY (Travel Required)

  • Travel required for duration of project

  • Camper/RV setup highly recommended

Key Responsibilities 

  • Operate front-end loader to feed aggregate and materials into the Hot Plant

  • Assist Plant Operator with daily plant operations and production needs

  • Perform routine equipment inspections and basic maintenance

  • Monitor material levels, stockpiles, and moisture content

  • Maintain clean and organized plant/site conditions

  • Support troubleshooting and minor repairs as needed 

  • Follow all safety protocols, MSHA/OSHA standards, and company policies

Qualifications 

  • Experience operating loaders in construction, aggregate, or asphalt environments preferred

  • Knowledge of Hot Plant operations is a strong plus

  • Ability to work long hours, including early mornings and weekends as needed

  • Strong work ethic and team-oriented mindset
